60 km on the treadmill for Ukraine
To collect money for the victims of the war in Ukraine, our front desk employee Mick Roché will be doing a challenge at USC. Walking 60.7 kilometers on the treadmill in one day! In other words: the distance from Universum to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Will you be supporting Mick’s walk for charity?
Mick’s blue and yellow finger nails are pointing to his feet to proudly show his new walking shoes. “On these ones I’ll be doing it. I immediately walked back home from the store with my new shoes on.” On Thursday 24 March it’s happening already. Then Mick will be walking up and around 12 hours for the war in Ukraine.
The fitness shaker is always half full
Before or after his busy front desk shift, Mick often enjoys himself in the fitness. Although the treadmill is rather unfamiliar territory for him. “I prefer to run or walk outside,” he says smiling. “I think I’ve never been on the treadmill in Universum actually.” But that sure doesn’t stop him from doing the challenge – Mick’s fitness shaker is always half full. :-)
Also when sharing his donation predictions, there’s no room for negative thoughts. “Ten euros is 1% of €1000,-. So if there will be 100 people donating €10,-, we’ve made it!”
Walking flag
Mick chooses to do a sporty challenge, because he would like to share something about the situation in Ukraine on behalf of our organization – a united support from USC.
Do you want to support Mick’s walk for charity? You can do that by donating money via https://www.inactievoorgiro555.nl/actie/usc-universum. It’s also possible to walk, jog or run along with Mick on the treadmills next to him. You will probably spot him very quickly in the gym, although Mick’s outfit won’t be too eye-catching during the challenge. “My blue and yellow nail polish will definitely be there, but I’m not going to be a walking flag. For me it’s all about the message.”
