USC Winter Games
On 11 January, USC will host the annual USC Winter Games: a multidisciplinary strength sports event. During the Winter Games you try (accessible) exercises from the following four disciplines:
- Weightlifting: Clean & Jerk
- Powerlifting: Deadlift
- Strongman: Yoke walk
- Strength & Conditioning: 8-minute work-out
Prizes will be awarded for every discipline and for an overall winner. So, enough opportunities to win.
Everyone is welcome to join! But, make sure you’re well prepared. Check out the tutorial videos below, for example.
What can I expect?
This event is meant to bring the various strength sport disciplines at USC together. From previous experience, events like this make for a competitive but fun afternoon. That’s what we’re going for this year!
What you can expect during this event:
- When you arrive, you’ll be asked to weigh in, as you would at most strength sport events. Your weight will be used to calculate your scores.
Don’t worry, your weight will be strictly confidential. Only your final scores will be announced. - How will the events be scored?
- Weightlifting and Powerlifting: during this timeslot, participants build up towards their heaviest lift. Final attempts will only count if a member of the jury was asked to assess the lift. The weight of your heaviest attempt will be recorded and your score will be calculated using your body weight and an international coefficient.
- Strongman: The weight or task of this activity will be based on your body weight.
- Strength & Conditioning: this workout will be kept secret. However, the format and scoring will be comparable with those of other CrossFit events, where the amount of rounds and reps is your total score.
- We conclude the event with a prize ceremony and a borrel!
