Type: Martial arts, Passe-partout
A nunchaku is the dynamic weapon you use during the training sessions at Universum. Join them on your own level!
Whilst the weapon originates from Japan, the martial art Nunchaku-do was developed in the Netherlands in the 80’s. Therefore, it might not come as a surprise that the Dutch are now dominating the sport. Nunchaku-do is a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced martial art, consisting of four different disciplines, which allows for a broad learning curve.
Join the trainings for different levels at Universum.
With your martial arts membership you can also join the training sessions of all other martial arts.

Nunchaku-do consists of four different disciplines:
During Nunchaku-do classes, you will learn technical skills and work on flexibility, explosiveness, balance, motor skills, and physical fitness. All disciplines are taught at USC, but you will have the opportunity to specialize in one or more subjects of your preference. The classes are structured in such a manner that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the training regardless of their technical level and/or physical shape.

Lion Meijer is the personification of the saying ‘the student becomes the master’. Once a former student at USC, he is now in charge of the Nunchaku trainings at Universum! In 2022, he became Dutch Champion in the Kata discipline. He is actively keeping up his skills under guidance of the multiple World Champions Hannah Jalink & Joris van den Berg. Therefore, the master is still a bit of a student himself.
For the first few classes you can wear a comfortable shirt and trousers. Nunchakus can be borrowed for the first few lessons. Later on, you can buy nunchakus for €23,50 from the instructor. A Nunchaku-gi (suit) is mandatory when taking exams. For men, a toque is also mandatory.
Do you like to be challenged and are you competitive? When training at the USC, you are given the opportunity to participate in tournaments!
Are you a sports fanatic? Are you interested in various sports? The USC passe-partout is the right thing for you! This membership comprises a whole lot of different sports. Nunchaku is part of the passe-partout.
